Growing AAI’s community with our digital newsletter

I want to start by thanking you for being a part of a community that is dedicated to working together to expand liberation and racial justice. We have created this newsletter to tell you more about the work that we and our partners are doing and look forward to your feedback and engagement.

As we come to the end of yet another Black History Month, we at the Africa-America Institute (AAI) reflect on this year’s BHM theme of ‘African Americans and the Arts’. In this month's newsletter we invite you to read William Leo Hansberry’s Holistic Vision of “World History”, an article from AAI’s Historian Mora McLean, learn about AAI’s programs and upcoming events, and join us as we look back on our 9th Annual State of Education on Africa Conference.

We are also taking the time to remember some of the greats from Africa and the worldwide diaspora that we have lost during Black History Month. Namely, the political scientist and civil rights leader Charles V. Hamilton, American soprano Wilhelmenia Fernandez, marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum, and the former President of Namibia and AAI alumnus, H.E. Hage G. Geingob. Last year, we had the privilege of sitting down with President Geingob for an interview about his incredible life, career, and experiences with AAI. He will truly be missed in both Namibia and throughout the world.

Thank you for your partnership and engagement, not just this month, but each day as we celebrate the achievements of afro-descendants both on the continent, and throughout the worldwide diaspora, and work expand liberation and racial justice.

Yours in partnership,

Kofi Appenteng

President of AAI

P.S. We’d appreciate it if you share this digital newsletter to a couple of friends who believe in our vision, too.
