“Leveraging Educational Partnerships for Commercial Diplomacy”

AAI’s Spring 2026 ADEPT highlighted initiatives, models, and emerging partnerships that demonstrate how education can serve as a strategic asset for advancing national development and commercial objectives. Through ambassador-centered dialogue and exchange with public, private, philanthropic, and educational sector leaders, the program examined how educational partnerships can build human capital, strengthen leadership, expand technology and professional skills, and support scalable approaches to youth development, economic growth, and sustainable Africa–U.S. cooperation.
ADEPT Panels:
I. The Policy Landscape: Diplomatic Practice, Commercial Diplomacy, and Skills of the Future
Topic: This panel will focus on US policy that impacts African youth and employment strategies, best practices from different country contexts, and spotlight US-Africa cooperation at the intersection of education partnerships.
II. Expanding Horizons: Innovations in Education and Global African Partnerships
Topic: This panel will focus on partnership and education strategies aligned with evolving youth demographics and industrialization across Africa. It will feature national priorities from several countries, along with successes and challenges in education and the private sector. The discussion will highlight models that share expertise, foster collaboration, and identify pathways for scalable, sustainable impact in youth development and skills advancement.
Each panel was followed by 25 minutes of open discussion and Q&A from the diplomats and industry leaders in attendance.
