Class of 2022
My Ashesi journey has been quite rewarding. I was unsure of my professional path in my first year, not knowing what I wanted to accomplish with my passion for math and science. I joined the Ashesi Berekuso Leo club within my first year, which allowed me to serve and give back to my community through volunteer projects. In my second year, I used my love for math to become a math tutor, where I taught students who were struggling in their math classes. It was a rewarding experience to assist these students. In my third year, I worked with the Firenze group to create a STEM curriculum for youngsters and host a coding bootcamp. I enjoyed engaging and coaching these kids. In my final year at Ashesi, I collaborated with a colleague on the Engineering Diary program, where we organize forums for practicing engineers to share their experiences with students on campus. I have seen myself develop over the course of my four years at Ashesi, and I can certainly state that Ashesi has prepared me well for the professional world, and I can thrive in any situation I find myself in. Ashesi has helped me build critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, pressure-working, and leadership abilities. I have also formed some wonderful friendships that I will never forget.
I did want to share two key lessons I learned while at Ashesi. To begin with, create good friends - individuals who share your interests and aspirations - so that if you need academic assistance, you can support each other and if you want to start a business, you can form partnerships and collaborate. Second, introduce yourself to your lecturer and communicate with them; there are many opportunities on campus, and you may miss out even if you are qualified for the position because you were not recommended by a lecturer. I will be channeling my love for teaching and STEM as a faculty intern in the Engineering Department at Ashesi University. Machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as the use of big data to improve industrial processes, are topics that interest me. To achieve my aim of becoming a data science and AI enthusiast, I am pursuing online data science and machine learning courses. I intend to pursue graduate studies in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and robotics control. I will be interning with the Education Collaborative at Ashesi this summer, which will help me improve skills like communication, organization and time management, which are necessary in the workplace. I will also be assisting Msmiles Foundation and 24 Qode with their respective programs.
I would like to thank my donors for their financial support during the course of my four-year studies at Ashesi University. Thanks to your support, I have been able to focus on my goals and become the first person in my family to graduate from the university. It would not have been possible for me to realize my ambition without your generous support. Thank you once more for your investment in my future. You have my eternal gratitude. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to making my Ashesi experience memorable.
