Class of 2022

The journey at Ashesi has been a learning and growing experience for me. I have learned to ask for help and also learned that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. I have learned to embrace failure and take lessons. I have learned to accept constructive feedback and improve. I have learned to leave my comfort zone and take initiative. I have learned to lead and understand that my actions have an impact on others. Also, I have learned the importance of staying true to myself. As a result, I have watched myself grow year after year in various areas especially in my academics and interpersonal relationships. I have also had the chance to engage with so many amazing people on the Ashesi campus and around the world through the clubs and fellowships I have joined like the Melton Foundation Fellowship. Through the volunteer work I have done while at Ashesi and by starting my own project (with support from Ashesi), I have learned the value of giving back. The past years have been nothing short of transformative.

After graduation, I will work as a Research Assistant with the Ashesi Research Studio, after which I would like to pursue a graduate degree in Education. In the past four years at Ashesi, I realized that I have a great interest in issues related to the education of young people. While I have no idea yet what I want to focus on, I derive a lot of fulfilment from being and working in institutional settings like schools and universities and I want to pursue a career that allows me to do so. I am hoping that while I work at Ashesi as a Research Assistant, I will be able to find my area of interest and explore that when I get to graduate school.

I am grateful for every experience I have had and every person that has been part of my four-year journey at Ashesi. I am taking away with me so many lessons and memories which will last me a lifetime. To my donor, if you see me fly, know that you painted my wings. Thank you so much. Thank you for believing in me and for investing in me. I will remember to pay it forward.
